Stand Up Inn
|
The pub dates back to the 1800’s and was originally built by Edward Durrant, who erected the Ale House adjoining his tiny brewery. The pub became The Stand Up Inn, due to there being no seats back then. In 1980 it was re-named The Linden Tree after the mature lime tree that towers over the front door. The Durrant’s Brewery brewed its last ale almost 100 years ago although the remains of the old building can still be seen today at the back of the pub.
After extensively refurbishing and opening-up the interior, The Stand Up Inn opened under the watchful eye of manager Nicola Whatford, who took the reins having looked after drinkers at The Evening Star – the Stand Up’s sister pub in Brighton. Visit us at: |
